A sentence is made up of a word or a set of words with complete meaning. Those sentences that can be separated into two members or parts are bimembres.
The term bimembre is formed by the prefix bi, which means two, and membre, which means member. Thus, a member of the sentence is the subject and the other is the predicate.
The subject and predicate
The subject is what names an object, a person or a animal that performs some kind of action. The core of the subject is always a noun. The predicate is what is said about the subject and its core is always a verb. In the sentence "Grandpa needs Dear", the subject is formed by" the grandfather "and the predicate is formed by" needs affection ". Since this sentence can be separated into two members, it is a two-part sentence.
Subject and predicate have to agree on gender and in number. In the sentence "the stories present mysteries", the subject part and the predicate part coincide in gender and number.
When it is not possible to separate the subject and the predicate, we are not dealing with a two-part sentence, but rather a single sentence.
If I affirm "Tales from the street" I am not before a bimembre sentence, since there is no verb in it.
However, in sentences with climatological verbs, there is a verb but despite this they are unimembres (for example "It was raining intensely" or "It was snowing copiously").
Other ways to classify sentences
The distinction between bimembre and unimembre is a way of classifying sentences. However, there are other types of classification. Thus, there are simple or compound sentences. In the former there is only one way verbal and in the latter there is more than one verb form
According to attitude of the speaker we can have enunciative sentences (It is already five o'clock), exclamatory (I am afraid), interrogative (Tell me why you did), imperative (Do it immediately), wishful thinking (I hope it comes as soon as possible) or hesitant (I don't know why you are so worried).
They can also be divided into transitive (we will eat at my house on Monday) or intransitive (I will lower the boxes to the storage room), reflective (Manuel painted his face) or reciprocal (they get along very well).
In the sentence "on Saturday we will eat together" it can be seen that it is a simple, bimembre, enunciative and intransitive sentence (it is intransitive because it does not have complement direct).
