The term postpone is one that is used to refer to the act by which a person postpones an activity or decision due to lack of security, for lack of interest or for not knowing how to solve it, among the most common reasons that trigger such a situation.
Postponing the completion of a task or activity because it is not important, because it is difficult to solve it or because it generates problems, among other causes
The act of procrastination is a typical act of our current society in which people are stressed by all the obligations with the that they must comply with and therefore, whether due to fatigue, reluctance or forgetfulness, other actions are postponed instead of being resolved in the moment.
On the other hand, and added to the stress and daily obligations that sometimes do not allow us a minute in our day to do something, we cannot ignore the issue of money, lack or shortage, to be more precise, and that many times causes some plans or wishes to be postponed because they do not have the money to carry them out.
For example, fixing something in the house that has broken down, going on vacation, buying a car, among others.
It is also important to say that the act of procrastination may have a lot to do with the personality of the individual.
In this sense, while there are people who are very committed, serious and willing to complete all their responsibilities in a timely manner, there are also people who find no pleasure or challenge in fulfilling their obligations in the way they are supposed to do so and thus fall into a permanent postponement.
This procrastination can range from simple actions or decisions such as cleaning the house to larger and more important decisions such as delaying a career.
The commitment to finish the things that are started versus the complication of not doing it
The problem with putting something off, when this is done permanently, is that the person who acts like this tends to lose the notion of responsibility, of commitment, of duty.
These notions are very important to coexist in society whether we talk about work (an area in which postponement continuous can generate many conflicts) or that we talk about people's relationships, for example with friends, the couple wave family (For example, when the person postpones resolving situations that must be resolved and that the other expects to be taken into account).
As stated at the outset, the increasing stresses of life today have just the opposite result, leaving many people feeling frustrated, incapable or disinterested in many activities, for which the person can let himself be or waste time with things that are not important instead of solving those that should be resolved.
This is very common in work, student and relationship settings since the act of procrastination can occur permanently and in all aspects of a person's life.
Now, it is also important that we point out that beyond any contingency, human beings have a tendency to postpone and put aside those activities or obligations that are uncomfortable, boring or do not provide us with any benefit, but on the contrary complicate us in some way sense.
But if this trend becomes a habit in life it becomes a serious problem that may be connected to a personality disorder that we do not know about and that should be treated in psychotherapy.
Also in this action of postponement there is a lot of self-delusion, because we usually say to ourselves, I will leave this today, tomorrow I will go and do it. I resolve, and what happens, if we have this trend is that it is not done the next day and it is left aside and never resolves.
As we said before, if it is about issues that are not important, go ahead and go, but the problem is when you are conduct It is developed in actions that do or do require a resolution, such as attending a treatment to cure ourselves of a disease, to cite an extreme example case.
