The term urbanism is one that is used to refer to the practice by which a city is planned, planned and organized.
Discipline that deals with the planning and organization of a city in order to offer its inhabitants a good quality of life
It involves a series of knowledge and activities that are applied to the planning, development and remodeling of urban centers in order to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of these places.
Urbanism studies cities, considers the type and quantity of population, and the demands of their inhabitants according to the uses and traditions in the various sectors such as: industries, residential, commerce, recreation, services, communication channels.
You can make an original layout or apply reforms to the one that already exists.
In this last point we must say that when cities increase their influx of inhabitants it is essential to think about making changes because of course that the infrastructure original is intended for fewer people.
In many modern cities these necessary modifications are being applied to increase the quality of life and without a doubt They are very beneficial for the inhabitants, both in terms of housing and circulation, always improving both aspects.
Urbanism or urbanity serve both from the beginning or from the moment a city is founded as so also throughout its history, when changes, improvements or innovations in your space must be carried out cape.
A complex task that requires the contribution of other disciplines
Although it seems simple, carrying out the urbanity or urban planning of a city is not easy and does not depend only on elements of beauty or good taste if not that it has to take into account a myriad of conditions ranging from climatic to soil issues, economic, political, traffic, etc.
In other words, any modification that is intended to be made to a city involves very clear and safe considerations.
On the other hand, urbanism is a discipline which is in close interaction with other sciences such as architecture, engineering, sociology, the geography and history.
From all these, he draws information and draws information to improve his work.
Because in order to plan a city that works and responds to the needs of the inhabitants, it is important to have knowledge about construction, the demands of the people, the techniques that resulted or not, to avoid or renew them, and take into account the characteristics ground, weather, and the money that is available to carry out the work.
To all this we must add the consideration of the care of the environmentIn other words, when it is planned, it must be sustainable and protect the natural environment above all else.
It is considered that the history of urbanism arises as such with the founding of cities at the hands of the Romans during the time of the empire.
This is so since the Romans took a model of the city and later imposed it on all the conquered regions.
This type of city was one in which there was always room for a public square and in which, preferably, the streets had to follow an orderly grid.
Later, this model would spread throughout Europe until it even reached America at the hands of the Spanish and their cities founded after the conquest.
Let us remember that in Latin the term urbs means city.
At present, urbanism is largely linked to architecture since it is related to the construction of open or closed spaces according to the possibilities and needs of the space.
Urban planning deals with deciding what type of transport routes, what open spaces, urban complexes, residential areas, monuments, etc. there may be in each place.
Many times the marches and countermarches in urban planning can make a city significantly change its profile according to the most modern theories, while in other cases urban planning is mainly concerned with preserving those older buildings or constructions, erecting everything around it, guided by this rule.
The importance of urbanism is such that it even has a day in which it commemorates it, on November 8 of each year, the world celebrates urbanism throughout the world.
