Decheism is one of the most common grammatical errors in our language. Dequeism and queism normally occur in relation to some subordinate clauses. Both errors are manifested both in the language oral and written and appear in the Spanish that is spoken in America like the one that is spoken or written in Spain.
The fundamental idea of Decheism and some illustrative examples
Decheism consists of unnecessarily using the preposition of. In the sentence "I think you don't have right "there is a dequeism, since the preposition of should not be used, since the correct thing would be" I think you have no right. "
Dequeism usually violates a general rule of thumb. syntax, that according to which a preposition should not be used before a subject. If I say "it is certain that the match won" we are dealing with a subject substantive subordinate sentence and, therefore, it should be said "it is certain that the match won".
One of the most common cases of Decheism is one in which a correct preposition is substituted for the preposition of. Thus, in the sentence "I trust that the notebook is in its place" the preposition of is unnecessary, since the preposition en should be used, that is, "I trust that the notebook is in its place".
Decheisms are also committed in some phrases (a phrase is a set of words that function in a unitary way as if they were a single word). In this way, the phrase "unless" would be a case of dequeism, as it would have to be "unless".
It should be noted that not all dequeísmos are an error, since sometimes and that they can go together, as happens with the following sentence: "On top of that you help him, he complains."
Causes of Dequeism
There is no single reason for this error. In fact, there are several reasons. On the one hand, speakers have a tendency to economize on words. Another cause is paradoxical, since it is given by a desire to speak correctly and with this attitude you end up making a mistake. As is logical, the inappropriate use of syntax is also another cause of Decheism.
Queísmo occurs when the preposition of is not used and the correct thing to do would be to do it
In the sentence "I realized that I was not wearing money"It can be seen that the preposition of is missing, since the correct thing to do would be to say" I realized that I had no money. "
