10 Examples of Test Types

There are different test types, since these texts are classified according to the topic they address and according to how the information is presented. For instance: historical essay, scientific essay, descriptive essay.

The essays They are written in which a subject is reflected objectively or subjectively (depending on what type of essay it is). But in all the essays the author makes explicit an opinion, a hypothesis or a thesis on a topic and defends it with arguments and tests.

In addition, these texts usually provide detailed information on the issue being analyzed. As for the length, there are no fixed rules, since these texts can cover a few pages or an entire book.

However, there are rules regarding the structure of this type of text, since it always has three parts:

Although the themes of the essays are endless, there are some themes that are recurrent, such as philosophical or historical, and that have a long tradition regarding what their writing is like.

Types of trials according to how the information is presented

The trials are classified according to whether the information is presented objectively or subjectively and according to how the subject is approached, that is, according to the methodology and style that were used to write the text.

Examples of test types

1. Philosophical essay. Thoughts by Blaise Pascal. This book brings together different essays by the French philosopher and mathematician in which he reflects on religion and on the condition and existence of the human being.
2. Literary essay. “Poetry Questions ”by Paul Valéry. In this essay the author reflects on what poetry was like in the past and on how it has changed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
3. Historical essay. The fatal fate of Rome by Kyle Harper. In this essay the author reflects on the fall of the Roman Empire taking into account both the internal and external factors of the empire.
4. Scientific essay. "Field equations of gravitation" by Albert Einstein. In this essay, the physicist exposes how he developed the equations and the conclusions that he was able to draw from his investigations. This essay is one of the most important writings in the history of physics.
5. Academic-argumentative essay. The concept of art criticism in German Romanticism by Walter Benjamin. This essay is a thesis of the literary critic in which it is exposed how the notion of criticism and reflection on art changed in the era of Romanticism.
6. Descriptive essay. "A Room of My Own" by Virginia Woolf. In this essay the author describes what conditions women must have in her life to be able to dedicate herself to literature in a professional way. The author reflects on this issue from a feminist perspective and taking into account the relationship between reality and fiction.
7. Critical essay. Arlt goes to the movies by Patricio Fontana. In this book of essays the author reflects on the literary and journalistic texts of Roberto Arlt, an Argentine writer, and the relationship they have with the cinema of the time.
8. Expository essay. Climate change: the challenge of the millennium by Jessica Ramírez Torres and Magaly Jazmín Soto. Although this essay can be considered as a scientific essay, it is also an expository essay, because most of the text explains in detail what is climate change, what are its causes and consequences and what could be possible solutions for this phenomenon.
