As he progressed along the journey, the man aged, but temporality did not advance towards the present but towards the past. That is why his neighbors became younger and did not recognize him. The story ends with an unexpected twist and it is a story that has strong social criticism.
5. Fantastic tale. "El Horla" by Guy de Maupassant. This story tells the story of a man who as the days went by he felt physically worse and worse. At a certain moment, he realized that in his room there was a strange being that was consuming his life, then, the man escaped from his house. In addition to being a fantastic story, it is a horror story, since there are parts that are written in such a way that they generate fear in the reader.
6. Wonderful tale. "Snow White" (anonymous). The story of Snow White is a wonderful story, because supernatural events are narrated that are considered part of everyday reality. Snow White's stepmother poisoned the young woman with an apple, because she was jealous that the young woman was the most beautiful woman in the kingdom. But she Snow White did not pass away, she fell fast asleep, until a prince rescued her.
7. Realistic tale. "Los mensú" by Horacio Quiroga. Two Brazilian men living in northern Argentina, where they worked in very poor conditions, planned to return to Brazil to spend their last years in their homeland. The story works as a critique of working conditions in some rural areas.
8. Horror story. "The Hunter" by John Collier. A man went to see a sorcerer to ask him to give him a love potion. The witcher gave it to him without asking for anything in exchange for it. He used the potion, but the woman did not really fall in love with him, she became obsessed with the man. Therefore, the man returned to see the witcher to ask for a potion to get rid of the woman and the witcher sold it to him at a very expensive price. This horror tale has a moral: love cannot be bought.
9. Police tale. "The music" by Ricardo Piglia. This story tells the story of a case that was investigated by Commissioner Croce. The commissioner learned that there had been a crime and that there was a defendant, Pesic, a Yugoslav man who did not speak Spanish. The commissioner, who plays the detective, realized that the man was innocent, but since the accused did not know how to speak Spanish, his innocence could not be proven, so he was arrested. The only thing Croce could do for the detainee was to give him an accordion so that he would not feel so alone.
10. Science fiction tale. Ray Bradbury's "The Rocket". This tale tells the story of the Bodoni family. This story takes place in a future in which people could travel to different planets as tourists. The Bodoni family did not have the money to undertake such trips. So Fiorello, the father, built a rocket out of scrap metal to travel to Mars, but the ship only fit one person. He offered his family members to travel on this ship, but no one accepted, because they did not want to travel alone. So, Fiorello built a full-scale model, pretending to be Mars, and brought his children there, who believed they were visiting the red planet. In addition, being a science fiction story, this story has elements of social criticism, since it denounces inequalities.
