The isocolon is a rhetorical or literary figure related to the parallelism, which consists of the equality or similarity in the syllabic length of various clauses or sequences in prose, that is, sentences that are divided into syntactic members of similar composition. For example: Difficult is the road, difficult is the journey.

It is a figure of repetition and belongs to the group of figures of speech. The repeated structure can be a word, a syntagma or an expression. It is similar to the isosyllabicism of poetry (the repetition of the number of syllables in the verses).
