It is common in English to hear the expression for the years before 2010 as a whole number, and the years after 2010 divided by two. For example: 2003 (two thousand three), 2018 (twenty eighteen).
Careful: The years are not written with a eat, since the comma is only used to express other types of figures. For example: 2002 (year) - 2,002 (figure, calculation, price).

Exceptions to this rule:
- When the year marks a hundredth anniversary (that is, if it ends in 00), the first two figures are named together and then it is said hundreds (representing the two zeros): 1600 (sixteen hundreds), 1200 (twelve hundreds).
- When the year belongs to the first decade of each century, the word must be added oh, with the exception of the centenium and the exact decade. For example: 1907 (nineteen-oh-seven), 1804 (eighteen-oh-four).
