What is an informative text?

In general, informational texts use formal language and denotative, since their main objective is to transmit information or knowledge about a specific topic in a clear and direct way. They can allude to events, situations and circumstances both current and past.

We use these types of texts in practically all spheres of our lives and they appear in a large number of genres. For example:theses, technical reports, scientific articles, school books, information brochures, dictionary entries, biographies, recipes.

Informative texts usually present the following characteristics:

• Its function is to transmit knowledge about a topic or fact of reality.
• They use precise, concise and clear language, since they seek to avoid all kinds of ambiguity.
• They do not include opinions or persuasive tools, since they do not seek to convince the recipient, but only to inform.
• Their topics can be the most varied, from everyday issues to scientific explanations.
• They can be supported by non-text materials, such as tables, images, photographs, infographics and other graphic resources.

Types of informative texts

Depending on the target audience, informative texts can be:

• Informative informative texts. His language is accessible to any reader. Unlike the specialized ones, they do not point to a receiver with training in any particular field of knowledge. For example: a newspaper article, the definition of a concept in an encyclopedia.
• Specialized informative texts. Contain academic language or technical. They are aimed at a reader who already has sufficient knowledge or training to be able to understand the content of the text. For example: a degree thesis, a scientific report.

Structure of the informative text

In general, informative texts usually present the following structure:

• Qualification. It is a short and specific sentence on the topic that will be addressed in the text.
• Introduction. The subject alluded to in the title is presented and the main elements that make up the text are listed.
• Development. The content of what is sought to be reported is presented. It is the most important part of the text, since the ideas and data on the subject being addressed are exposed.
• closure or conclusion. The main ideas of the text are synthesized or the subject is closed, sometimes with a general overview of what was addressed.

Careful: The informative texts can be very diverse, depending on the type of information that is sought to be transmitted and the context, among other elements. Thus, an informative text can consist of a single sentence or an extensive treatise, for which the parts that make up its structure tend to be highly variable. For example: a news story about a robbery, a sign with the hours of a restaurant and an instruction manual are all informative texts, but each one presents its specific structure.

Caffe Panna Cotta

Ingredients:

• Soluble coffee 3 tablespoons
• w/chocolate
• Sour cream 2 cups
• ½ liter whipping cream
• Sugar 1 cup
• Whole milk 2 cups
• Thyme 2 tablespoons
• Powdered gelatin 10 g

Step by Step:

• Heat the milk in a saucepan over low heat along with the sour cream, sugar, thyme and coffee, without letting it boil.
• Remove from heat and allow to cool to exactly 80ºC.
• While the previous mixture is cooling, hydrate the gelatin in a container with water for 5 minutes and mount the whipping cream in a bowl.
• When the milk mixture is still warm, add little by little, with enveloping movements, the gelatin and the whipped cream.
• Pour into individual molds and let cool in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
• Unmold to serve.
• Sprinkle with grated chocolate.
