The round they have their origins during the Middle Ages, most probably among the clergymen in religious poetry, written in Latin; later this format passed to the popular poetry of the minstrels and to the vulgar language; some of the examples of redondillas profane are among the works of the Infante Don Juan Manuel, Around the year 1300; the Infante Don Juan Manuel was the nephew of King Alfonso X, El Sabio, and it is very likely that this character also cultivated the genre.
Many were composed rounds by the great authors of the Spanish Golden Age, and their influence passed to the colonies; One of the great examples of the Novohispanic redondillas were those composed by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.
The round It is a genre of stanza formed by four verses of minor art, octosyllables, with the rhyme of the first verse with the fourth, and the second with the third (Abba form).
