Importance of Drills
Miscellanea / / August 08, 2023
There is the relatively recent notion that there are certain tragedies or catastrophes that can be avoided. Although this is not very old, it is true that today there are more awareness on how to prevent or prevent a force majeure problem from generating more damage than can be estimated. This is why drills exist as a preventive element that allows people get organized and can better recognize which strategy to take without falling into panic or paralysis.
Prevention as a way of survival
To better understand the importance of a drill, it is necessary to make one thing clear: there is no way to avoid a catastrophe if it is going to happen. In this sense, many natural tragedies are unavoidable and have a power or a force that rarely leaves them capable of responding to the human being. In other cases, we talk about tragedies caused by humans themselves or by human damage, but they are also difficult to recognize because nobody expects them to happen.
So the strategy of prevention it becomes the only trace of survival that we can have before a possible damage or attack. In this sense, simulating the conditions of a tragedy (both natural and human) allows us to better organize ourselves to be prepared in case such a situation occurs. This is especially vital in areas where the predisposition or tendency for this type of event to occur is known, as occurs for example in Japan with earthquakes.
The art of simulating tragedies and the complex organization behind it
So far we are clear that drills are important to survive situations that are often unavoidable. But organizing these events that prepare us better is not easy: you have to have a large number of people in charge who will be in charge of fulfilling different roles. If we talk about prevention of natural tragedies, different parts of the State must be at the service of the civil community such as firefighters, civil guards, hospitals and the health system, police and security forces, etc
In the case of talking about minor dangers in institutions such as schools or public places, it is important that they contact each other. roles on the part of those who work there that allow covering the different needs that may arise in the moment. Thus, in the drill it will be essential to define what job or what task each person will have so that later, in the event of a real emergency, they can be fast, effective and safe in recovery.
