Importance of Neurolinguistics

Thanks to neurolinguistics, we are able to understand the mechanisms and understand the functioning of our communication, both oral and written. so this discipline is essential to be able to understand, among others, the evolution communication skills of man, treat speech problems, as well as improve or reinforce communication in patients with brain injuries; and it is not necessary to forget that the language it is inevitably related to our brain.
Taking into account that our speech is produced based on several and different areas of our brain, it should be noted that the Neurolinguistics is an essential discipline that helps to understand a little more what are the lesions that cause aphasias. This discipline will develop treatments and therapies capable of re-educating, re-establishing and rehabilitating all functions lost due to any type of injury.
To understand a little more the work and the importance of neurolinguistics, it is necessary to talk about aphasia. Aphasia is a state in which the individual loses all or part of the ability to speak, as a result of a lesion in the areas of the brain that are used for language. Thus, neurolinguistics helps us to delve a little deeper into this aspect thanks to new technologies. For example, we are now able to get brain images that allow us to look at this part of our body, being able to observe which are the areas that affect our ability to communicate.
But not only aphasia is an object of study for neurolinguistics, but also topics such as bilingualism; and it is that many scientists are fascinated by how the brain processes the learning and use of two or more languages, although we see it as something normal.
We can say that neurolinguistics is essential to be able to study, scientifically, the evolution of language in man. Thus, thanks to this discipline, an attempt is made to delve into how language is acquired by children, and how it can later be lost in old age.
In neurolinguistics it is also important to talk about neurolinguistic programming. Although when we hear the term we automatically think of computers, it does not entirely refer to it. This neurolinguistic programming is a model of the functioning of our mind and our perception. Thus, as if we were computers, we perceive and process information in our brain.
This neurolinguistic programming will try to take universal models of communication and perception to be able to apply them to the most diverse topics, such as learning, overcoming stress, conflict management etc
