Importance of the National Census

Among the tasks and responsibilities of a modern State is one that has to do with knowing, collecting and preserving specific and statistical data on the population who has to rule That is why branches of science such as demography arise, which is responsible for quantitatively analyzing a population and obtaining endless data from that analysis. Within demography we can mention one of the most important and significant elements that a State can count on: the national census.
The national census as a necessity
The national census is undoubtedly one of the most relevant elements that a State can have. When we talk about a census, we refer to the broadest and most complete survey that can be carried out on a population in order to obtain the greatest amount of useful information from it. The census can be local or regional (for example, carried out in a locality or a province) but here we are talking about the national census, which is the one that is carried out on the entire population of a country. This implies that because it is comprehensive, the national census requires an important network of organization, schedules, and compliance.
It is usually carried out on the same day that is declared a holiday so that people can stay at home and receive the interviewer. Based on the data obtained from the census, the State can carry out planning housing, health, education programs. You can also know the most vulnerable areas and work from the data to improve them.
Characteristics of the national census
When the designated enumerator passes through the living place of a person or family, requests data and information on the quality of life of the respondent to collect them and deliver them later in the public dependencies designated to such a case, generally in charge of the Ministry of the Interior of each country. Among the questions, the data requested may be age, sex, type of dwelling and characteristics of the same, educational level, income level, type of work performed, assets and services those available in the area or owned by the respondent.
