Miscellanea / / August 08, 2023
Lake Titicaca, located in the Andean highlands between Peru and Bolivia and with an area of 8,500 square km, is a ideal place for travelers looking for genuine enclaves and also for archaeologists and lovers of riddles.
What can we find in Lake Titicaca?
A traveler who goes to the lake will find a unique spectacle for several reasons. First of all, it is the highest navigable lake in the world and is located at an altitude of approximately 4000 meters. Due to its height, the purity of the air and the quality of light are exceptional.
Its size is so large that there are 42 islands inside, where communities of Quechua, Aymara and Uru origin live, dedicated to the agriculture, fishing and to a lesser extent tourism. In most of them there are no cars, no roads, and no electricity. On the island of Amantaní is the temple of Pachatata, the god of the Earth and fertility. The inhabitants of this island kindly accept travelers, but they have refused the construction of infrastructures hotels that could degrade the natural landscapes of the island.
In summary, the visit to Lake Titicaca is especially attractive for lovers of nature and culture (among the civilizations that have settled on its shores, the Chiripa, the Pucará and the Tihuanacota cultures stand out).
In search of mysteries and lost civilizations
On the shore of some islands in the lake there are tunnels and secret hiding places and enigmatic human figures can be seen on their walls. It is not known with certainty what they represent, so some researchers have come to say that they could be signs of extraterrestrial cultures.
In recent years, archaeological remains have been discovered in the depths of the lake. It is believed that it could be a temple built by some pre-Inca culture, probably the Tiahuanaco culture. (the temple rocks exceed 80 tons and there is no definitive explanation as to how they could have been transported).
According to some legends, mermaids live inside the lake and try to trap the inhabitants with their songs. In this sense, there are testimonies from tourists that corroborate these legends.
fans of paranormal phenomena They are fascinated by all kinds of enigmas: strange objects that fly over the sky and finally fall into the waters of the lake, colored spheres that float on the waters or strange light emissions from a stranger.
