Importance of Water Resources

In a planet full of organisms that need water to live, it seems obvious that water resources are essential; and is that No water, no life. Even more considering that the population human is a constant that continues to grow. This factor and others such as desertification or droughts, force governments to introduce plans focused on saving water resources to ensure water.
The importance of these resources poses serious challenges and problems. Planning these resources properly so that we can all benefit from them is not easy; And it is that not only organisms need it, such as animals and plants (crops), but also many current industries require a large amount of water to carry out their productions.
There are certain factors that make it difficult to save and planning of resources, or rather that make them necessary. For example, geographically some areas are much drier than others. Desertification is an evil that increases, something that is increased by the lack of rain and drought.
Man has had to devise different strategies to win the battle and be able to better distribute water resources. For example, in many areas of the world where there isn't much water and what there is is polluted, they use rainwater collectors. We are talking about the most extreme places. Those underdeveloped countries that do not have a strong economy to propose works to take advantage of said water resources.
In other places, reservoirs, swamps and dams are also widely used. It is another way of collecting water during the rainy season, storing it for the months in which said rains are not so constant. In addition, in the case of dams, they can serve as sources of energy such as electricity and even prevent flooding.
We also have other options such as transfers from larger basins to provide water to drier areas.
So important is this issue of water resources, that in most countries projects of investigation subsidized with the sole purpose of obtaining an inexhaustible source of water. Thus, throughout the history of man, we have achieved, for example, mechanisms that can desalinate water, something really interesting, taking into account that our planet is made up of large amounts of seawater. However, this technology it is still too expensive for certain countries, many of them the hardest hit by desertification problems.
