Importance of ESC rights
Miscellanea / / August 08, 2023
The term DESC is the abbreviation used to designate the economic, social and cultural rights that are part of a person's quality of life. These rights often go unnoticed compared to others such as the right to life, liberty, justice and identity, but they are equally important and it could be said that they are all part of the set of Human rights.
One must start from the idea that all Human Rights are important and equally relevant. However, for a mere point of order, ESC rights are considered to be of the third generation, which which establishes that for them to be given others must be given first, such as the right to life or to freedom.
When we talk about DESC we refer to rights such as work, education, health, culture. All these rights are an important part of a person's life since they are very practical and have to do with the day to day of existence. These rights are a responsibility of the States and suppose the establishment of programs and measures that seek to favor them with a
budget more important, with investment and commitment to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of a territory. It is difficult for a person to access this type of rights without the work and the specific and clear decision of the States (it does not depend on a person only to get a job, nor does it depend on accessing a good level of health or education).DESCs are very important today due to everything previously established, but it would not be until relatively recently that they would be taken into account. taken into account compared to others (such as freedom, life, justice) that are considered foundational rights of the entire system of Rights Humans. This recognition of ESC rights stems from important situations of economic crisis that have forced States to take responsibility for the social and of its inhabitants, having to invest and provide measures that ensure access to work, housing, health, and education in an equitable manner for all. In any case, many countries still show problems consolidating this and maintain high levels of social inequality, poverty and misery suggesting that economic, social and cultural rights have not yet been ensured equally for all manner.
