Although it is a term that sounds modern, the truth is that encryption has been a tool used for practically all of history. history of humanity: from invented languages, encrypted letters, secret codes or even riddles and riddles, we can say that since the existence of the language Human beings have tried to protect the messages that we consider important from the eyes of others. Entire wars have been lost due to bad encryption or poor communications: you don't have to look far to see an example in World War II, when the decoding of the famous Enigma machine gave the allies access to key information that facilitated the early end of the war.

When we send our encrypted data, what we do is simply send it encrypted using mathematical or logical formulas, in such a way that as only the chosen recipient has the necessary codes to be able to decipher and read them. If anyone tried it, they would get nothing but a jumble of indecipherable letters and numbers of no value. This may sound fantastic and unreal to you, but let's imagine a daily scene: we put a password to enter our mail, and we hit send. When the password is sent unencrypted, if someone were to intercept it, they would have access to the entire information stored in our email account and not only that, but could even impersonate our identity. Hence, encryption is essential if the data sent is personal, business or financial information. With the advancement of the internet, more and more companies store their data in the cloud, which poses a risk since theoretically anyone can access it. The need to protect this data has given encryption an important role in security of those servers, so that only those who really have the right to access that data, can do it.There are, obviously, numerous types of encryption and encryption, some more secure than others, and that we must take into account when connecting to the Internet. The most widespread and used is the technology SSL (Secure Socket Layer), which creates a code between two different computers so that they can communicate with each other securely. We must also, before concluding this article, mention the public key encryption, which has revolutionized the modern field of data encryption by introducing a double key (one public and one private) to secure documents stored on the network.
In short, the encryption is a security tool more, complementary with other systems such as anti virus, the firewall, the digital signature...and that protects our privacy on the net, allowing us to perform safe browsing and avoiding data theft.
