Importance of Tolerance

The importance of tolerance is linked above all to a coexistence in peace. Today this value is especially relevant to the extent that we live in a society that has cultural exchanges all the time. Indeed, at the time of the globalization there is a clear relationship between peoples of very different cultures, of very different histories that must be harmonized. In this sense, the tolerance is necessary for these relationships to take place, tolerance that it is far from leaving aside the differences; It is above all a consequence of the realization that it is more important to emphasize what is in common.
In the past, there was undoubtedly some difficulty for differences to be respected when it comes to peoples. Indeed, the existence of varied cultures sometimes led to conflicts of different consequences. This circumstance stood out especially when there were relations of domination of a political nature. In these scenarios, the differences always came to light and sometimes led to riots where the loss of human life was inevitable. The
intolerance in this context it also had a close relationship with the ignorance of other people's cultures, ignorance that sometimes aroused fear since these cultures could question their own in some sense. It can be said that the importance that today is given to the tolerance is largely based on the postulates of the liberalism. This philosophical movement has its most evident correlate in the valuation by democracy republican as a form of government of a society, as well as in the assessment of a market economy. Freedom is, from this perspective, a fundamental value that must be respected, as long as, of course, the freedom of others is respected. This conception has proven to be much more than a way of thinking, it has undoubtedly demonstrated its importance in practice since it has obtained more than positive results in the societies in which it has taken root: indeed, they tend to reach a much higher degree of development throughout sense.
Despite this assessment that today is held of the tolerance, the truth is that there are still remnants of behaviors that seem to threaten it. These remnants, in any case, should be openly condemned to the extent that they signify a regression in terms of social relations.
