Apart from its undeniable ecological value, fabric is a material with many possibilities. Thus, it is perfectly possible to go shopping with bags made of cloth, which have several advantages: they are easily foldable and can be carried anywhere, its manufacture is simple and they are much more aesthetic than those of plastic.

Plastic is a harmful material for the environment

It is estimated that every minute two million plastic bags are used in the world. Most of them end up in the sea and this circumstance affects the wildlife of the aquatic environment, since the animals they mistake this material for food and end up suffering from diseases or directly die from suffocation.

On the other hand, the toxicity of plastic affects marine vegetation and ends up negatively influencing the food chain.

Consequently, the best strategy to avoid this serious environmental problem is not to use plastic bags and choose other types of alternative materials, such as cloth or recycled paper.

California was the first territory where free plastic bags were banned. This measure came to France in 2016 and currently there are several countries that are considering its absolute ban.

Everyday decisions matter

Choosing ecological bags for shopping is a good example of what we can do every day to take care of the environment.

Also, it is possible to reduce the use of car and replace it with public transport or the bicycle.

Instead of using conventional light bulbs, it is preferable to use low consumption ones.

Instead of keeping electronic devices on, it is better to turn them off when we do not use them.

The use of dryers is dispensable, since clothes can be dried in the open air.

We can also classify the garbage according to its origin, collect the waste when we go on an excursion to the field, use the water we need and not keep the tap running and avoid the use of items disposable.

These and other measures depend exclusively on a personal decision.
