Importance of Toys for children
Miscellanea / / August 09, 2023
It is very difficult to imagine the children's world without games and toys. For adults, interaction with the game has a playful and competitive component, while for children it is much more than just entertainment, as it is their way of expressing feelings, concerns and ideas.
Curiosity, joy, learning and sociability
A simple empty shoebox or a fancy colored gadget can have the same value to a child. Both are objects with which it is possible to create imaginary stories and discover new things. Thus, they serve to activate the natural curiosity of the little ones.
The manipulation of a toy produces a certain satisfaction. Adults play with the intention of winning and if we lose we feel frustrated. Instead, when the child still does not know the concepts of victory and defeat, he plays for the simple desire to obtain pleasure.
Most have an implicit learning component. In this sense, from the interaction children learn certain rules of the world that surrounds them. They begin to distinguish that there are heavy and light things, difficult and easy, fast and slow. In short, some basic concepts are learned by playing.
A 3-year-old child already knows that he is the "owner" of his own toys. However, in a natural and spontaneous way he wants to share what is his property with other children. In this dynamic, the child unconsciously learns to integrate into life in society.
In short, the perfect proposal would be one that arouses intellectual interest, that is entertaining and with which it is possible to exchange experiences with other children.
Typical mistakes related to toys
When an adult buys one for a child, it is likely that he will make a mistake. Some typical failures are as follows:
– Do not take into account the age of the child, since each type of toy has been designed for a certain age range.
– Give away a product that promotes sexism, machismo or violence.
– Although they can be very instructive, they are not always as fun.
– Being influenced by the advertising or by the price (that a proposal appears in the television and that its price is high does not mean that it is a good option).
– Buy toys without previous basic information on some aspects (indications related to safety, personality of the child who is going to receive the gift or the level of complexity of the gift).
