Example of Journalistic Language

The way in which a news item or journalistic note is written is very important for its communication. Let's detail the five fundamental points for a correct journalistic language:
1- A good newspaper article has to offer as much information as possible with the least number of words.
2- The style of the journalistic note must be functional and its main function is to inform. For this reason, it must be clear, precise, simple, not extensive and very easy to understand.
3- It will be necessary to be very careful not to use excessive repetition of words in the body of the journalistic note with exaggeration. You have to use a varied vocabulary that is simple for all readers.
4- We always have to seek the greatest objectivity in the journalistic note and try to adjust to reality as much as possible.
5- The author of the journalistic note does not represent a poet so it will not be necessary to use metaphors of literary origin or write in a similar way that we communicate with our friends. We have to be clear that in all the news: less is more.

The journalistic note is written using informative language. The style of each editor or journalist will conquer it according to his deep knowledge of grammar, syntax, spelling rules and lexicon. The main thing is that each of the sentences of the note contains a maximum of about 20 words. Short paragraphs and sentences have to be written, containing only essential words.
It is essential to avoid colloquial expressions such as: then, it should be remembered that, therefore, it is obvious, etc.
We have to provide very specific data. Example: it is incorrect to write “some students missed class today”. We should write "About seven students missed class today." It is good to always know the exact numbers.
When we write what another person said, we must place it in quotation marks. For example: Professor Juan José Zitarrosa said: "More attention to books and less to television"
We must also avoid certain adjectives that can demonstrate our own feelings towards the journalistic note that we provide, such as: kind, spoiled, generous, cruel, etc.
You have to take good care of the number and gender concordances between the verbs and the subject.
