Friends I leave you the summary of the book Gurus Speak:
From: Joseph Boyett and Jimmie Boyett
Reading this book seemed extremely interesting to me, it provides us with very valuable information that we must take into account for our performance within organizations. It introduces us to the ideas and concepts of the 79 best business thinkers in the world of the 1980s and 1990s. It shows how your most important theories about leadership, change management, learning, strategy, motivation, and future organizational designs have emerged and evolved. Selected gurus include: Michael Porter, Michael Hammer, Charles Handy, Peter M. Snge, Tom Peters, Stephen Covey, John P. Kotter and many more.
Faced with globalization and the constant change we are experiencing, opinions of such prestigious people (such as gurus) are really beneficial, since organizations and therefore their administrations must adapt to the change that is experienced, because it is a fight where if you do not advance in parallel you stay out you disappear.
This book encompasses topics that we have actually covered throughout our careers, but it provides us with more of a reality than a theory unlike what we commonly see within the classroom.
Within the topic of leadership, it corroborates aspects such as that leaders have common characteristics, however they also have some that differentiate them from others, as is the case with any organization, you should always seek to be unique and stand out for something that distinguishes you. Your main task is to build and maintain a strong relationship with others.
Within the management of change as it is already well known, most of us resist change, because we have a misconception of what change really means, and it is much more comfortable to stay the same than to face things new. For a change to be successful, managers must communicate and define a really convincing reason and vision and the results must be consistent with it. In addition, everyone must participate and see a common benefit.
The most important element of any organization is the human factor, so it should be used to the maximum and They must be given the foundations for their continuous growth and development and thus be within the play and not disappear. They should not be neglected at any time, as their attitudes, skills, experiences and knowledge determine the overall performance of the organization.
Currently, if organizations seek high performance, they must organize around work teams that are essential and they must know how to guide them effectively. Given current conditions, companies must have low-level flat structures hierarchical and seek innovation, stimulate learning, and share information with all their members.
Many other very interesting topics are touched on that leave me good ideas to apply within my professional development.
