History Sources
Story / / July 04, 2021
To achieve its ends, History uses different sources, that is, different objects or elements that help us to obtain reports on historical events.
Some sources provide us with the data in a direct way; for example a handwritten or handwritten paper, in which we can directly find the news we are looking for. Others, on the other hand, give us their teaching in an indirect way; for example a fingerprint, which only by studying it, interpreting it, can provide us with the desired information.
In general, the following can be mentioned as historical sources (both direct and indirect):
a) writings of all kinds: from very rudimentary inscriptions to the most modern printed matter;
b) stories transmitted orally, from one generation to another;
c) figures: such as maps, drawings, paintings, statues, etc .;
d) monuments: both of primitive type, such as dolmens and prehistoric tombs, as of more elaborate forms, such as houses, palaces or temples;
e) human remains;
f) various furniture objects: such as knives, spears, suits, etc.
