    Example of Omnivorous Animals

    They are called "Omnivorous animals"To all those animals that can eat foods from the food chains or more exactly that they eat everything. The omnivorous concept comes from Latin, where omnis means everything and I will vorare means to eat like this "omnivorus”Or omnivore means to eat everything.

    The omnivorous concept refers to all those animals or living entities that constantly eat different types of food, that is, they can marry, collect and consume these foods.

    They make the distinction of animals that occasionally consume the foods of the other food chain, since these take advantage of opportunities to do so, in which omnivores as such, directly seek and consume these food.

  • Cod.- The cod is an omnivorous animal, as it feeds on fish such as herring, and other small fish, in addition to feeding on algae and seedlings.
  • Cassowary.- This is a bird that has been listed as CasuariiformesThese feed on fruits, fungi and small animals such as fish, mice and some lizards, their habitat is tropical jungle, adapted to the humid climate.

  • Swans.- This is an aquatic bird, which is classified as anseriform and it belongs to the family anatidae, It is an omnivorous animal because its diet includes fish, insects, aquatic plants, terrestrial plants and some seeds.

  • Cuatí.- The quatí that is also called Nasua It is a small omnivorous animal, its origin is American and it is classified into two, cuatí Nasua Nasua and cuatí nasua narica. It can feed on small insects, fruits, and some small rodents.

  • Sea urchin.- This is a small mammal, which looks similar to rodents, but does not belong to that family, it belongs to the family Erinaceomorpha, as it is covered with thorns (spikes), which are its natural defense. Its diet includes small insects, which is why it was initially classified as an insectivore, but it can eat small rodents, seeds and some leaves.

  • Skunk.- This mammal is typical of America, and is omnivorous, as it consumes small rodents, insects, plants and even eggs.

  • Shrew.- This is a type of rodent that feeds mainly on insects, but it has been considered omnivorous, since it gets to consume some seeds and eggs that it can occasionally find.

  • Rhea.- It is a native bird of Central and South America, it is very similar to the ostrich but its dimensions are smaller, it differs by having three fingers instead of two. It is considered omnivorous because its diet ranges from insects, some plants or herbs, tree fruits, seeds, small rodents and some lizards.

  • Ducks.- These are webbed animals, relatives of swans and geese, they can consume small lizards, fish, wild fruits.

  • Piranha.- Piranhas are fish known to be carnivores, but there are some varieties that are omnivores, since they consume different foods such as fish, algae or insects. Of the piranhas there are more than twenty varieties, and most are omnivores.

  • Opossum.- Possums are typical animals of America, and in Central and South America there are about 20 varieties not extinct, and their diet is omnivorous, consuming small fish, insects, spiders, fruits, seeds and some plants.

  • Fox.- Foxes are generally classified as carnivores, but due to the need to survive their diet can expand to plants, fruits, fish, insects and meat.
