Verses of more than 8 syllables are called verses of major art. This difference with those of minor art is that the minor art verse is more used in music and popular poetry, while those of major art, due to their difficulty, are more used in poetry cultured.

Some of the types of poetry they use major art verses, are the Alexandrian verse, which uses verses of 14 syllables. Another of them is the sonnet, in which verses of 14 and verses of 11 syllables are combined.

In relation to the number of syllables that make up each verse, they are called in the following ways:

1. Nine syllable verses = eneasyllables
2. Verses of ten syllables = decasyllables
3. Eleven syllable verses = hendecasyllables
4. Twelve syllable verses = twelve syllables
5. Thirteen syllable verses = tredecasyllables
6. Fourteen syllable lines = tetradecasyllables
7. Fifteen syllable verses = pentadecasyllables
8. Verses of sixteen syllables = hexadecasyllables

Examples of verses of major art:

Nonasyllables

Your look is, Cara Mariluz,
Source of warm and dim light,
That the winter of my sad soul
Restless and cold, warm and calm.

Decasyllables

From the living room in the dark corner,
He is a great man with great will,
That heals without grudges alike,
The pains, be they white or black.

Endecasyllables:

With fury he who defends his way

Twelve syllables:

With dedicated effort or during hours of rest,
The free and beautiful stanzas are the goals.
