Diagraphic Typing Example

The diagraphic marking is the accentuation of the letter "O", in cases where the letter "o" can be confused with the number "0", which happens when there are numbers written before or After the conjunction "o", and in order to differentiate the letter "O", from the number "0" a title or accent is put on the letter "o" when it is a conjunction that joins numbers. It should be noted that in the diagraphic marking the conjunction "Ó" does not change the intonation, for the same reason that it is a tildación to differentiate the "O" from the number "0" in a text. But this does not happen when the conjunction "O" is between words, even when these words represent numbers, using only in cases where there are numbers before or after the conjunction "or" to avoid confusion of the conjunction "O" with the number "0".

 As demonstrated in the following example:

Can I give you 100 or 150 pesos for the errand?

Can I give you a hundred or a hundred and fifty pesos for your errand?

(Differentiating in this other case, in that there should be no diagraphic accent, being only in cases where it finds numbers in which the conjunction "or" can be confused with the number "0".)

Examples of diagraphic marking:

• You lost 5 kilos, right? Before you weighed 80 or 90 kilos.
• How much sugar will you buy for the sweet, 10 or 12 kilos?
• The daily expense is 200 or 300 pesos.
• Between 10,000 and 12,000 individuals participated in the race.
• They traveled about 50 or 60 kilometers across the country.
• Compensation for the accident should be around 2,000,000 or 2,500,000 more or less.
• There were 18,000 to 22,000 books in the library before the fire.
• The library at Alexandria is believed to have contained at least 200,000 to 300,000 different volumes.
•  It seems to me that 8000 or 9000 cell phones were sold in the year, among four states nothing more, not counting the cell phones that were sold throughout the republic, which I think were 34,000 or 50,000, more or less.
• The work was done by 20 or 30 people, but 10 or 15 could have done it without any problem.
• Erika and Wilfredo will get married on the 10th or 12th of this month, do you know when exactly?
• Karen and manolo have been married for 9 or 10 years.
• Karina and Emmanuel have been dating for 9 or 10 months, and they want to get married.
