Example of Journalism: The Meaning

Journalism is understood, in the vulgar sense, as the set of daily publications with informative interest. Many notable events take place repeatedly in today's world: war conflicts, scientific discoveries, racial discrimination, political tensions, natural disasters, etc. Nothing remains a secret, everything is quickly disseminated by the advanced means of communication available to man today: radio, television and newspapers.
Journalism is, first of all, news. News is an event that has human interest; it is knowing how to respond, around an event, to six questions: who? what? when? where? how? why?
Why read the news in the morning newspapers, if we already heard it on the radio and television the night before?
Martín Vivaldi and Rene Fell, in a "matter of journalism", give us the answer:
".. Television does not quench the thirst to read; Rather, it turns it on, stimulates it, expands it. After knowledge, orally or visually, the need for mental, reflective knowledge is fueled by the written word. After the fleeting, the lasting; behind the ephemeral, what remains.

The predominance of the graphic image generates a craving for print, for concepts. The graphics leads to the literary. Tired of seeing more or less superficial images, man seeks the dense refuge of the written word. "(Cf. Basic Bibliography, No. 8)
From what has been stated before it is easy to deduce that the purpose of journalism is to inform, guide and delight.
