Example of Coherence Mechanisms

One of the very important aspects that must be taken care of when writing a document is coherence, which is the way in which all paragraphs are focused on talking about the same topic and it is treated in an orderly way, because it is through this quality that the text may or may not be understood.
To ensure that a document has this property there are so-called coherence mechanisms that help not to fall into errors of this type or to detect them when a revision of the text is made.
The different coherence mechanisms They are:
Cause: If a text exposes a cause, it can be located by finding words such as because, by reason of, since.
Effect: If a text exposes a cause, it must also state the effect it causes.
Certainty: When something is affirmed it must be with full security and verifiable. For example, if you say: the Mediterranean Sea is located in southern Europe and North Africa; saying this with certainty is an irrefutable fact.
Condition: If you want to express a conditioner, the phrase must start with if or with in case.
Corporal: When the text is not written, it is necessary that the corporal expressions and emotions shown are coherent with the text that is being expressed.
Example of coherence mechanisms:
In the teachers' meeting, the principal of the campus exposes the following:
“Since the second graders have achieved good grades and their conduct has been faultless, I propose to host a recognition dinner for them.
This dinner will be on August 15th in the special events building and the highest authorities of the campus will be invited to share with these students. "
In the previous speech a cause is exposed which is possible to detect from the phrase "Because" the cause is the behavior of second grade students; if you have a cause, you expect an effect; in the text, the effect or consequence of good behavior is the recognition dinner that will be held for them.
The coherence mechanisms in this case indicate that the text has cohesion, that is, all the statements are related, nothing more is made of a dinner because yes, but there is a cause, and the achievements of the students are not mentioned just to mention them, but there is a reason, to give them recognition.
