Life And Work Of Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent van Gogh he was born in the year 1853 in Holland and lived many years of his life in France. He was a member of the group of Neo-Impressionist artists, developed in the late 19th century. From Impressionism he took the independence of the selection of themes and theories of color.
Van gogh he suffered several emotional crises that led him to be hospitalized repeatedly. The famous painting "The Starry Night" arose from having captured everything that he could observe from the room when he was hospitalized. It was made in 1889 and is an oil on canvas with dimensions of 73.7 by 92.1 centimeters. The pure colors purple, yellow and blue predominate.
His beginnings were in Holland and he began making drawings based on Millet's paintings. In 1882 he began the first oil paintings of him where reality was the main source of inspiration for him. Van gogh he was a socialist in his way of reasoning, and that is why he painted for example peasants, the working class and also miners. He understood the art of painting as a means to transform society.

The most important period of his apprenticeship took place in Antwerp and Paris between the years 1885 and 1888. There he made contact with great artists of the movement called Impressionism and this was a great stimulus for his change. He had a creative explosion both in terms of themes and colors. At this time art was the reason for his life, after his internment in Saint-Rémy, he lived in Auvers sheltered by Dr. Gachet, a friend of his brother Theo. In 1890 he took his own life.
Although today his paintings sell for tens of millions, Vincent van Gogh he only managed to sell one of his paintings while he was still alive. It was the so-called "Red Vineyard", a great work that the Belgian painter Anne Boch acquired in 1890 for the sum of 400 francs, shortly before the artist died. He came to paint 751 paintings and despite the wealth and great variety of his production, he was not recognized in his time.
