A private letter It is one that is sent to a recipient who is trusted to discuss intimate issues.
This type of letter is written in plain language and without formalities, who writes a private letter it does not concern itself with the inclusion of colloquial expressions or making references that are only understood by the people to whom it is addressed.
Because of this, the private letter has become a very important historical research instrument, since this type of document has been written by important characters and over time they become public and from them it is possible to know many of the real ways of thinking from the author.
It differs from the personal letter in that it carries a certain formality in the language used and it is not always possible to express the feeling about the matter at hand.
The private letters that were sent between Christopher Columbus and Queen Isabel express the private relationship that existed between them, which without the existence of these documents it would not be possible to determine.
Private Letter Example:
Mexico, D. F., May 15, 2013.
Juan:
I saw that you attended the lecture that I gave in the university auditorium, the truth was I was very pleased, however I have a couple of things to claim that really upset me.
I don't know how your behavior is in other places, but when you attend one of my conferences I ask you to please turn off your cell phone, the truth bothers me that I'm talking and a phone is ringing, especially with the tone it brings, which is nothing discreet. If this bothers me in anyone, coming from someone who is my friend it infuriates me. And I ask you to turn it off so that you are not even sending messages, because the topic I was dealing with was not funny at all, and seeing that you laughed all the time is not comfortable at all.
Anyway, I appreciate the good will you had in accompanying me this time, which I hope is not the last.
I send you a big hug and a kiss to Teresa.
