Study of the ancient staircase discovered by anthropologists in an excavation, in which fragments of the staircase of the first cathedral emerged, and human remains that are considered pre-Columbian.

Human remains are considered to be over 650 or 700 years old, and are attributed to the sacrifices that were made in that place.

There are other opinions that seriously consider that the remains are due to the smallpox epidemic that hit the arrival of the Spanish.

Conclusion: The origin or situation of the bones is uncertain, but the history of the staircase is well supported.
