Values ​​are one of the elements that characterize the human being, which, unlike other animal species, has developed a complex cultural system. The latter organizes human life outside of all natural or instinctive conditions, so that its norms, obligations and rights are the result of a social consensus that is transmitted through enculturation or education and not on the contrary through heredity, genetics or media biological.

The characteristics of the values ​​are:

1. Values ​​can be defined as a quality or characteristic that a subject or an object has, which are attributed or dictated by a person external to it, a group or social institution.
2. Values ​​can affect the physical or psychological traits of a person or a group of them, which can transform their behavior, either towards themselves or towards other individuals or an object into particular.
3. Generally, the values ​​are intended to stipulate what is correct from what is not or what is considered incorrect. Therefore, they try to create a set of moral and ethical rules that regulate human behavior.

4. The values ​​therefore respond to a criterion or interpretation of the subjects, a learning or an educational apparatus specific, to an experience, to an ideal or a political framework or also to a vision or natural order that is outside the subject per se.
5. In this way, the values ​​are not exactly the same anywhere in the world. On the contrary, many of them vary in terms of their meaning and definition given that they are altered by the culture of the place and the conformation of an identity. Therefore, what in the Western world is known as solidarity or love, in the East it may have another meaning and characteristics, and may be very different.
6. Values ​​are often associated with personality, since these sometimes determine the way a person acts and is. However, although personality is usually a trait that is equally spread worldwide, values ​​are subjected to other types of cultural principles.
7. Some of the most important values ​​are honesty, responsibility, companionship, brotherhood and justice.
