For the Independence of ColombiaIt was not due to a spontaneous act, much less something that was born from one day to the next.
The Independence of Colombia It was a plan planned by the Creoles, being a generalized feeling. Since Creoles were always looked down upon and despite being the children of Spaniards, the simple fact of being born outside of Spain reduced their presence and authority. So for years this type of difference was causing each time a group of Creoles were organizing to change that type of policy.
Below I highlight the reasons that made the Independence of Colombia:
Events such as the one that occurred on August 10, 1809, when the Count of Ruiz de Castilla, who had the position of President of the Hearing of Castile and of ministers of Quito, being the elite Creoles who occupied said posts.
The riots that occurred in Cartagena on May 22, 1810 and in the Socorro community in the same year only on July 9.
Later the Board of Notables was created, whose members were civil authorities as well as enlightened Creole intellectuals. Standing out José Miguel Pey, Camilo Torres, Acevedo Gómez, Joaquín Camacho, Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Antonio Morales.
Not satisfied with the little achieved, they decided to hold meetings to plan how to get rid of the Spanish yoke. So they planned to organize a public disturbance and thus achieve absolute power at once and displace the Spanish.
"The plan should be to create a conflict with the Spanish, and make the viceroy feel under total pressure, and agree to form at that moment the Supreme Governing Board, and which should be headed by Amar and made up of Aldermen of the Cabildo of the community of Santa Faith".
Then the Creole Antonio Morales, suggested that the most convenient thing was to provoke a conflict with a Spanish merchant named José González Llorente. Being thus agreed for the day July 20, 1810. By virtue of the fact that it was market day and the place of the Spanish store, it would be full of people of all social levels.
Finally whatever the reason After the incident, it was possible to cause a great disturbance between a Spaniard and a Creole, thus achieving the beginning of the seizure of power in the Creoles. This is how the reasons for the independence of Colombia began or are documented.
