The attitude is the posture and behavior that a person has before others, towards circumstances and for himself. It occurs naturally, according to the personality of the individual, and accompanies him to face the situations of daily life.
The attitude, depending on your destiny, can be external or internal. It is external if it is oriented towards other people, and presents itself as either a state of judgment or a degree of willingness to interact Attitude is internal if the individual directs it towards himself.
Attitude is positive if it helps to improve interpersonal relationships, to face situations with greater clarity and to develop activities in an optimal way. Instead, an attitude is negative if it does any harm or impairs the course of relationships.
A negative attitude has a number of characteristics:
- Causes emotional damage, both to the individual and to other people
- It makes it difficult for people to carry out activities
- Makes the individual more likely to offend someone
- Alters the cohesion of a group
Examples of negative attitude
Among the most frequent negative attitudes are:
- Lament or complain
- Insolence
- The blame
- Jealousy
- The discrimination
- The arrogance
- Pessimism
- The prejudice
- Apathy
- The comparison
- Predisposition
- Contempt
- Hypocrisy
Lament or complain It is a negative attitude that can appear in all areas of a person's life. It consists of reiterating to oneself the "misfortune" in which he lives. It is common for it to appear in work situations, for example. In this case, wailing impairs concentration and delays work, which continues a vicious cycle.
The insolence It is a negative attitude in which the individual speaks or acts without respecting the authority of his interlocutor or underestimating it. It is common for children to present it to the elderly.
The guilt It is a negative attitude in which the person takes responsibility constantly, with emotional pain, for an action, whether his or someone else's, that has caused harm. It is, in a way, like a feeling of endless regret.
The jealousy They are a very powerful and horrible negative attitude that occurs in several different cases: in one of them, the person feels anger when someone is benefited with something desired by him. In another, the person goes into a rage when his partner comes into contact with a person, be it from work or a friend. He is accompanied by thoughts of infidelity and competition with that person. This attitude highlights a strong insecurity and lack of confidence, so it can do a lot of harm to loved ones.
The discrimination it is a very harmful negative attitude. The person who suffers from it feels suspicious and contempt for other people with specific characteristics. It is a learned attitude, starting from observing it in the environment. The reasons can be sexual preference, socioeconomic status, nationality and religion, to name the most important.
The pride It is the negative attitude in which the person tries to give evidence of being superior to others, in any aspect. It is accompanied by a lot of insistence and unpleasant gestures that make him an undesirable person.
The pessimism It is a negative attitude in which the person assumes defeated before setting a goal for himself; worse still, in daily life. It is a great impediment for him to carry out all his activities, since he does not see their purpose and at the same time he feels his ability to face them diminished.
The prejudice It is a negative attitude in which the person, before fully knowing someone, forms a preconceived idea. The destructive thing about this attitude is that the preconceived idea can be wrong and sometimes it comes to rule interpersonal relationships, which will no longer be authentic.
The apathy It is a negative attitude in which the individual tries to avoid any activity or coexistence, due to lack of desire and initiative. It can occur in different degrees, and in the most serious, apathy causes the person to stop even grooming.
The comparison it is a negative attitude that occurs, for example, when an adult wants an infant to show certain qualities, and insists that another child is a role model. It is so damaging due to the fact that it is a direct attack on the infant's self-esteem, since he feels diminished before the qualities of the other.
The predisposition it is a negative attitude that consists of "anticipating" the course of events. It affects the degree that the person does not want to leave their home or does not want to meet new people, for fear of being ridiculed or not showing their best.
The contempt It is a negative attitude in which the person tries to minimize others, either with comments or actions, because they consider them inferior or because of some difference they may have. It is one of the most damaging attitudes, since attacks out of contempt reach very different degrees of damage.
The hypocrisy It is a very unpleasant negative attitude and speaks very badly of the people who present them. It consists in presenting a false interaction with other people, to mask that you do not get along with them. Many hypocritical people smile at the one they dislike, to avoid further discomfort.
