The emperor syndrome It is the child's personality disorder. In it children defy the authority of their parents and lose all forms of respect for them. Then they end up disrespecting everyone around them. Also called oppositional defiant disorder.
In this disorder, the child believes that he has sufficient authority to command and challenge his parents first and then everyone around him. They mistreat, disobey, scandalize, deliberately annoy others. They infuriate frequently and senselessly. They demand attention and pampering and when they do not get it they are usually vindictive and aggressive. They are jealous and mistreat the object of their jealousy, usually younger siblings.
They argue even with adults and refuse to obey any order or request that they give them. They blame others for any mistakes of their own and never take real responsibility. They are generally angry, or upset. They tend to harbor resentments and desires for revenge, which they often carry out without measuring consequences.
They can retaliate by mistreating animals or young children. Breaking or stealing things that they know are dear to the adults they challenge, such as hiding keys, glasses, purse or any other belongings from their parents. If they know any secret of the parents they do not hesitate to use it against them. They lie and criticize without touching their hearts, they demand things that are outside the parents' financial budget, and they do not leave them alone until they are given.
In order for Oppositional Defiant Disorder or Emperor Syndrome to be properly diagnosed, must be someone under the age of eighteen, last at least six months with this irritant attitude. And the disorders must exceed what is normal in children with their age and development. You must also have four of these characteristics for you to meet this disorder. All these behaviors must be independent of the child's state of mind or that she suffers from a psychotic disorder. It is not the same as conduct disorder and not antisocial if it is someone of legal age.
