It is called as paramo to that terrain of important dimensions characterized by the absence of population and of vegetation and because it is located at a certain altitude.
The structure of the moor is comparable to that of tabular relief that stands out for the appearance orographic strata with table shapes and is found on limestone-type soils (rock sedimentary formed mainly by calcium carbonate) that have practically no vegetation; rainfed crops, heather and bushes are the most common presences.
Regarding the weather, we also find several peculiarities, since in the moors it is a fact that amplitude thermal, regular winds and shortage of rivers, in as much and as a consequence of the considerable altitude that many moors observe, in the rainy seasons the presence of fog is quite frequent.
It should be noted that those areas in which the moors are numerous are called moorlands. The subcontinent Indian, Central Asia, Tropical Africa, Northern America, among others, are some of the places where we can find this type of environment.
And also the word moor designates the ecosystems of Mountain that extend discontinuously in the Neotropics, as the region that contains part of South America, Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico is called. Obviously they share the typical characteristics of the moor mentioned above.
