The term gaucho it is popular in countries like Uruguay, Chile and Argentina, although it is in the latter country in which it has been widely used.
So, when someone in Argentina says this or that made me a gauchada or when someone says to another you would not pretend to remove my son from the school today afternoon, for example, what he will be referring to will be a favor, a kindness, that is, the word gaucho in Argentina is used as synonymous with terms like favor and kindness.
Meanwhile, the origin of this use dates back several centuries, more precisely to the revolutionary times of the nation, in which the figure of gaucho knew how to hold a prominent presence at the time of the fight for the independence.
It was common for the gauchos at that time to receive tired travelers and offer them no only food but also a place to rest and spend the night, obviously without asking for anything in return; then, because it is the same, a typical gaucho behavior is that in favor or kindness it is began to call gauchada in clear reference to these typical acts of the gauchos from the interior of the country.
With the to run over the years and centuries the term evolved to be a synonym for the words favor and kindness. In the present, in Argentina, Chile or Uruguay when someone talks about gauchada they are referring to a favor done or to the request of a favor.
It is worth noting that the gaucho was a kind of farmer characteristic precisely of the plains of Argentina, southern Chile, southern Brazil and Uruguay. He knew how to stand out for that solidarity mentioned, due to his ability as a skilled rider and the development of cattle, for this very reason that today Today in Argentina rural workers dedicated to livestock are also called gauchos.
