In the field of communication, Assertiveness is a quality that has been referred to a lot in recent times. This quality has to do with the ability of an individual to establish his point of view in a sincere and direct way, without sounding aggressive but without becoming submissive either. Assertiveness is considered to be the middle ground between the two and is therefore one of the best methods of communication between two or more people.
Assertiveness is a quality that can be related to the self-esteem, the professionalism, the good sense, the I respect, etc. He who has a attitude Assertive is someone who is not afraid to expose her point of view but who does so without damaging or hurting the opinion of others. While in many situations it is difficult not to get carried away by feelings or sensations of the moment, being able to act assertively is a very precious element, especially in some work and professional areas.
Unlike what happens with people who act in a passive or aggressive way, those who do it through assertiveness observe that there is no
ambiguity in its language or way of communicating, for which the audience to which one is directed already knows in advance the objectives and interests to be communicated. At the same time, being able to act according to those interests, the assertive person does not feel hatred, resentment nor anger for not having been able to say what he thought, which is the case with passive or aggressive. Finally, assertiveness also implies an important improvement in the human relations since it is a pleasant but defined and self-confident attitude. Assertiveness is therefore one of the most important qualities in environments where you must work in a group, establish interpersonal ties and communicate to more or less broad audiences.
