The term slang designates the particular language that gypsies use. So he hot language, also known as zincalo and Iberian Romani, is a language that comes from romany, language native of the gypsy community, which is estimated to have been present on the planet for approximately one thousand years and that in the present is spoken on the continents American, European, Asian and African, where individuals of gypsy origin swarm.
Now, the calo implies a sub-branch of the Romani language, which by location geographical area in which it is born is known as the Iberian and western branch, meanwhile, is in Spain where most of its speakers are located. It is also widely spoken in countries such as Portugal, France and in Brazil, for which it is plausible that we find different dialects of them in the countries mentioned, for example, the Spanish heat, the Brazilian heat, among others.
The influence that it has received from the two languages with which it is mostly related, on the one hand,
the Castilian, Romance language par excellence and on the other part of the Basque. Most agree that the calo arose from the intention of its original speakers, the gypsies, to hide their language of origin, Romani, then, in combination with its greatest influence, which is Castilian, the slang.
Despite this diffusion that we comment, neither Spain, nor Portugal, nor France, some of the countries in which it is spoken the most, have recognized as an official language and they have not even declared their formal protection because it is one of the forms minority of communication that exist in your territory, case that would include it in that of minority languages.
In other words, even to this day, calo is still considered in front of the dominant languages, a minority language, as it is called those languages that at some point in their history have been banned, persecuted and even marginalized by their origin.
