The term chancellor is used in the political sphere to designate a type of official in charge of any of the specific portfolios of the government of a country. Depending on where we are, the meaning of chancellor may vary since in some countries it refers to the who governs or prime minister while in others it is mainly related to that official in charge of affairs external. In other cases, in the minority of them, the foreign ministers are the ones in charge of the Justice and in others of the economy. In either case, it is clear that the role of chancellor is always of great importance to the functioning of a government.
We could say that the position of chancellor is a form of minister since it is in charge of a heading specific within a government portfolio. In most countries, the chancellor is the one who deals with foreign or international affairs, providing the government with the appropriate information and advice on the relations that he maintains with other countries, be these economic, cultural, political or only diplomatic. Used in this sense, the term is very common in
Latin America.In other countries, such as Germany or Austria, the term chancellor is used to refer to the heads of the government, that is, the first ministers or presidents as the case may be, officials in charge of the government and with the greatest list of responsibilities that may exist within a government.
Finally, in other Northern European countries such as Finland or Great Britain, the term chancellor is linked to the areas of justice. In this sense, they may be responsible for control the acts of the government to ensure its legality while they can also be responsible on the other hand for the correct execution of the laws by the whole society.
Whatever the meaning, as we can see, the position of chancellor occupies a primordial place in all cases and this is always used. term to designate officials of high importance whose responsibilities have to do directly with the proper functioning of the government.
