Parliament is called the institutionpolitics which is part of government of a country and whose main characteristic is to be composed of several members (unlike the Executive power which is in charge of one person). Parliament is one of the most important parts of the democratic system since it is the institution that most directly represents the people and that works according to their interests.

The origin of the parliamentary system can be found in those medieval governments that implied a more or less assiduous relationship between the king and his court of nobles. This court of nobles was originally designed to advise the king in decision-making (although he maintained central power). However, over time, the power of the nobility increased while that of the kings progressively diminished. So much so that in many cases Parliament was nothing more than an institution representing the interests of the wealthiest classes in society. This situation would begin to change slowly with the revolutions known as the

Revolution Glorious in England (17th century) and the French Revolution in France (18th century).

It goes without saying that each parliament has its own rules of functioning, being able to vary many of its elements between one case and another. It is generally believed that the more members of a parliament, the better their job will be as long as it is done following the guidelines of conduct Y I respect among all members. Although the idea of ​​parliament is related to that of the National State, other smaller territorial divisions such as the provinces, localities, municipalities and cities have their own parliaments and legislative chambers.

Many countries in Europe have an important parliamentary tradition, this system being native to this region.
