We understand by prophecy what is said or communicated from something that is believed to happen in the future, despite not having any type of evidence logic or empirical to make such a claim.
Supernatural gift that allows a person to anticipate a future event but without evidence or proof
Prophecy is a vision of the future and can be communicated by non-real entities or characters as well as by people or individuals who have the ability to read the future.
For example, it is considered as a supernatural gift of divine origin that allows the knowledge of events that will happen in the future.
Those who communicate the prophecy to the rest of the people are known as prophets, the prophecy is precisely the prediction that the prophet makes.
Associated with magic, superstition and religion
Generally speaking, the notion of prophecy enters the world of superstition and magic. This is so because, as stated, prophecy does not require a scientific, empirical or logical basis. to be communicated unlike other ways of seeing the future such as predictions, the
hypothesis scientific, etc.Prophecy can be established through emotions, of the connection with supernatural worlds with which most of the people have no contact, etc. Needless to say, truly believing in a prophecy depends on each person, their traditions, his reasoning, etc.
Prophecy is normally seen as a prediction of negative things that will happen in the near or distant future.
Religion: the message that God communicates to his prophets so that they transmit it to the faithful
However, prophecies are also present in the world of religion and not only in that of magic. In this sense, prophecies are those messages that the god of each religion or belief He communicates to his prophets so that it is transmitted to his people. Prophets are specially chosen by God for having distinctive characteristics and it is For this reason, they are selected to carry the honor of transmitting the direct message of the divinity. In these cases, the prophecies can be positive messages such as when it is indicated that the people in question can be free or can improve their circumstantial situation.
Prophets are chosen by God without exceptions and in any case no human being can be considered or assumed as such because he so decides. Now, we must say that this has occurred with recurrence, the so-called false prophets, who, motivated by a diseaseOut of ambition for power, fame, or self-deception, they decided to assume themselves as such.
Those who have the ability or gift to predict people's futures should be called soothsayers, that would be the correct term, although they are usually called prophets.
A long history of prophets in religions
History brings together a huge number of prophets who acted in various cultures, such as the Greek, in which they were able to know the designs of the highest god Zeus and then transmitted it to whoever corresponded.
And of course, as we already said, religion has a long list of prophets. All monotheistic religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam have them and have revered them for that work of enormous responsibility that have.
Moses, Ezekiel, Samuel, Jonah and Muhammad, among others.
Precisely the latter, Muhammad, is recognized as the founder of Islam. He was an Arab prophet who was born in a humble family and that he would be orphaned at a very young age.
An uncle took care of him and when he was 25 he married a millionaire widow who helps him become a respected merchant.
In one of the many retreats that he used to make at desert is that he receives the letter of true faith, of his god Allah, from the Archangel Gabriel.
From that moment on he took care of spreading it through his native country and assumed himself as the continuation of other great prophets Jesus, Moses and Abraham.
The great value of this prophet is that starting from scarce resources he became the creator of a religion that would sustain a culture that would spread universally.
Old Testament books containing words of the prophets
The books of the Old Testament in which the writings of the prophets are contained are referred to as prophecies.
Clue-based conjecture
In common language, this concept is usually used to name that conjecture that is based on signs or signals, it is not proven facts. "The prophecies we received from the business were all very effective because they were right in what finally happened."
