Like many words and expressions, the concept of a steady hand has two possible interpretations. One of them refers to its meaning literal and the other refers to the figurative sense of him.
In most languages there are very similar expressions. In English it is said “steady hand” or “steady pulse”, in French “pouls ferme” and in Portuguese it is written exactly the same as in Spanish.
A steady hand is necessary in some professions and activities
It is said that someone has a good pulse when the movements of his hands do not show any shaking. When this occurs, it is a person with a steady pulse. This characteristic is irrelevant in many activities, but it is essential in others. Thus, a surgeon, a violinist, a painter, an archer, a photographer professional or a barber who does not have a steady hand will not be able to carry out his activity.
Acting with a steady hand is equivalent to acting with determination
There are many ways to approach a difficult situation. Faced with problems, there are people who avoid
conflict, others that hesitate and remain blocked and in some cases there are individuals who are cowed. However, a possible alternative is the following: act with determination and firmness. When this happens, someone is said to have a steady hand. The expression Firm pulse is not used for normal circumstances of daily life, only in those especially complicated or adverse contexts. On the other hand, it is an expression associated with a series of values, such as courage wave confidence in oneself. In this sense, if a person is faced with a painful situation in which he has to take difficult decision, you may say that your pulse will not tremble and that you will act with determination. Sometimes the idea of a steady hand is equivalent to others, such as that of cold blood, serenity or poise.
The brave and the steady hand
A brave person is one who is capable of facing the problems that arise in life. He is someone with great confidence in himself and who knows how to control his fears. It could be said of him that he does not allow himself to be dominated by fear.
The brave man is not a fool, for he is aware of the risk which he assumes, but still he can't help but determine from him to achieve his purpose.
From a psychological point of view, the brave defies any thought negative that prevents you from fighting over something. In general, he knows what he wants, how to get it and is not willing to be hindered by anything or anyone. In short, this is an individual with a steady hand.
