It is called viral to all disease that is developed by the intervention of a virus. For analogy with the behavior of a virus, the term was extended in its use to other discourses far from the realm of biology; It is possible to refer, for example, to viral marketing, which consists of the job of social networks to make known a certain brand.
Nevertheless, it would be difficult to understand the use of the word without delving into the behavior of a virus. This consists of a biological entity incapable of reproducing itself and that needs to be housed in a cell to achieve such a task; This circumstance leads to a debate today as to whether viruses constitute living beings. The truth is once inside the cell, the virus begins to replicate being able to have negative consequences for the organism.
The virus has a reproductive cycle with different phases: the first phase is the one identified with the adsorption and that it implies the binding of the virus with the receptors of the cell; second, the
penetration, that is to say, the incorporation of the virus inside the cell and whose form depends on the virus in question; then the undressing, whereby the nucleic acid of the virus is released into the cell; the next phase has to do with reproduction the virus, which also depends on the specific virus in question; the later stage is the assembly, in which the viral capsid is structured and linked to the genome viral; and finally, the phase of release in which viruses leave the cell that hosted them.Any process that follows a structure similar to the one specified is usually called "viral". Thus, for example, a campaign of advertising that is oriented to the reproduction of information through word of mouth would comply with these guidelines. The information would be reproduced by a guest that you previously entered to exit and address other guests.
