What is Beer?

Beer is a drink with a low alcohol content, between 3% and 9% of the total volume, a product of the fermentation of grains, mainly barley.
Beer is, along with wine, the oldest alcoholic beverage of mankind. It was probably discovered by chance, when the water in which the remains of bread had been soaked for some days was tested, since it was discovered that it was thus prepared in some areas of Elam (Persia and now Iran) and Sumeria (Babylon, now Iraq) about 4,000 years A.C.
In Egypt, the procedure that is used to date is created, of roasting the grains, mashing them, boiling them, adding yeast and some flavor; about 3,000 BC there were more than 100 varieties of beer in Egypt.
The procedure spread to several areas of the Middle East and Europe, where it has been perfected and there are now many varieties. Due to the misleading drinks that were sold as beer, the first law regulating its manufacture was issued in Bavaria in 1516, establishing the ingredients and brewing procedures.
The basic ingredients of beer are:
malt. They are the grains, of barley (mainly, although wheat, corn or rice can be used), which were germinated and later roasted. -The degree of toasting ranges from the lightest (Malta Pale) to the reddish or almost black (Malta chocolate). Malting allows the sugars to be separated into alcohol.
Water.
Yeast. That it is the same yeast for bread, and that it will convert sugar into Alcohol.
Aromatic substances. They are what give beer its flavor. The most used is hops, which give the beer a bitter taste and aroma. Another ingredient is ginger, which gives it a milder, spicier flavor. These are Ginger beers.
In addition to these basic ingredients, there are regional beers with other flavors, such as fruit, honey or spices.
