The hydrometer is a sophisticated tool precision measurement tool that is used to accurately measure and then determine what is the velocity, weight, force and the flow of liquids.
Both the bulb and the stem are made of glass, while in the bulb there is a portion of mercury or lead that will float when it is introduced into the liquid to be measured. And on the stem is the scale indicating the density.
To measure the density of a liquid, you will need to fill a tube of test with the liquid in question and then the hydrometer is introduced.
Although surely for most of us who are not dedicated to an industrial activity the hydrometer is not a measurement instrument that is common and common to us, it is important that we emphasize that in certain industries that produce food and drinks it is and also due to its specific function it turns out to be very useful at the time of the production thereof.
Thus, dairy products and some alcoholic beverages such as wines and beers need the
intervention of the hydrometer in their production processes since they are products that demand a determined density, then, the hydrometer, is ideal when it comes to accurately determining this question.Furthermore, such is the relevance that an instrument such as the hydrometer has in the production processes of the indicated products. previously that these industries have developed specific instruments adapted to the characteristics of the hydrometer.
According to what is deduced from the records of history, it is at French chemist Antoine Baumé who owes him the invention of the hydrometer, in the century XVIII. The invention would have had two alternatives, a hydrometer that was concerned with measuring liquids of characteristics heavier than those of water and another that measured densities smaller than those of the Water.
He even developed a scale to calibrate both models. Meanwhile, it should be noted that there are other models that are calibrated when the temperature it is 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
