What Does Metaphor Mean?

Many times we have read stories or stories, and we hear that their content is a metaphor, but what does metaphor mean?

The word metaphor comes from the Greek and is composed as follows:

Meta = meta, metastas which means beyond or after; Y

Fora = from Phorein and means to pass, to carry.

And all the integrated word, metaphor, means that it is the way that a real or unreal term is identified. Causing that things or beings are identified, with respect to a reflection or concept. It is when you compare things without the use of some nexus.

The metaphor, properly speaking, is a literary device. And also linguistics, as well as its use in psychology.

In psychology it is used to recreate stories, to help change positive attitudes.

As for literary resource, writers usually use metaphor so that their letters or words are immersed in original marks or attributes. Likewise, the metaphor gives strength to poetry because its meaning may be greater than intended.

Within the meaning of metaphor, several types emerge.

1.- Simple metaphor:

2.- Apposition metaphor:
Example: Your lips, cherries on your face

3.- Metaphor prepositional complement to the name:
Example:
 Lip cherries
Cherry Lips

4.- Pure metaphor:
Example: Cherries on your face

5.- Metagoge: It is a variety of metaphor, in this type the qualities of giving life to things that do not have it stand out, such as: the field cries. And this guy can get confused with reality.

6.- Complex metaphor: It is distinguished because it is extensive, and requires more metaphors without having a linear impression. Example: No woman is a mountain.

7.- Synesthetic metaphor: This type of metaphor mixes physical or bodily sensations, such as taste, touch, smell, touch. Mixing ideas with our impressions of the senses. For example like: the sweet, harsh noise of the air.
