Example of Uniform Rectilinear Motion (MRU)
Physics / / July 04, 2021
It is one that carries out a mobile in a straight line and is said to be uniform when it travels equal distances in equal times.
The equation of the uniform rectilinear motion MRU is:
Data | Formula |
d = distance (m) | |
v = velocity (m / s) | d = vt |
t = time (s) |
EXAMPLE OF MRU:
Calculate the distance traveled by a train traveling at a speed of 45 km / h in 45 min.
d = x m | |
v = 45 km / h | d = (45 km / h) (3/4 h) = 33.75 km |
t = 45 min = 3/4 h |
MRU basics
Position: It is the physical place where a body is found within a given space.
Movement: It is the change of place that a body experiences within a given space.
Displacement: It is a change of place regardless of the path followed or the time spent, it has a close relationship with the movement of a body.
Trajectory: It is the line that joins the different positions that, as time passes, occupies a point in space or, in another way, it is the path that the object follows within a movement.
Velocity: Distance traveled by a mobile represented in each unit of time.
Speed:
It is a scalar of the speed at a given instant or it is the speed that the mobile or object is carrying on a trajectory.Average speed: Average of the sum of all distances and times traveled.
Data | Formula |
V = mean velocity (m / s) | |
Edm= distances (m) | Vm= E d / E t |
Et = times (s) | |
E = sum of all values |
Calculate the final distance and average speed of a car that traveled 1840 km from Ensenada to Querétaro, where the first distance traveled of It was completed in 450 km in 5 h, the second in 4 h in a distance of 280 km, the third in 270 km in 4 h, the fourth in 5 h in 400 km and the last distance in 6h.
We first determine the final distance.
dF= 1840- (450 + 280 + 270 + 400) = 440km
Now we add the times taken and calculate the average speed.
tF= 5 + 4 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 24h
Vm= Ed / Et = 1840 km / 24 h = 76.66 km / h
A solved MRU issue:
A cargo truck travels from Atlanta to Chicago,
traveling a distance of 500 miles,
if the trip takes 8h.
What will its average speed be?
d = 500mi d = 500mi
t = 8h Vm = - = 62.5 miles / h
Vm =? t 8h
62.5 mi X 16O9m X 1h
-- --
h 1m 3600s
= 100.562.5m
3600s
= 27.93 m / s
