In the tradition Jewish, Christian and Muslim religious there are spiritual beings who take care of men in times of difficulty. These beings are angels and it is in Christianity where they have acquired more relevance. As for their nature, they are beings with a pure spirit, with understanding and with will. Its existence is a dogma of faith for Christianity.
In the Bible it is stated that thousands of them permanently accompany God. At the birth of Jesus they were present as a divine choir and during the crucifixion of Jesus they were also direct witnesses. According to the Old Testament an angel is a messenger of God. Patriarch Jacob was visited by one of them during a dream. The one who announced to the Virgin Mary that she was going to give birth to Jesus was the Archangel Gabriel.
The symbol that represents them is a ladder, because through it you can travel Heaven and Earth
In the iconography of the history of art They appear human-like and wearing wings, but in the catacombs of the city of Rome the angels appear without wings.
Is apparent contradiction has an explanation: art Christian of the first centuries he incorporated the wings, since these appeared in the images of the ancient Roman gods.
Regarding the existence of these divine beings there are three possible versions. For some, they are authentic messengers of God, others believe that it is an allegorical way of explaining good and evil (there are good and bad angels) and there are also people who do not believe in their existence.
If an angel deviates from the right path he becomes a fallen angel
Just as men disobey God and can be punished for it, some angels stray from the right path. In the Old Testament, Lucifer appears, one of the angels who rebelled against the Creator in order to cause evil among men.
In the Bible there are also references to other celestial beings who betrayed God, such as Grigori or Belial. The punishment they received for their rebellion consisted of not being able to return to Heaven. The archangel Saint Michael remained faithfully with God.
The figure of the guardian angel or guardian angel
According to Christian tradition there is a hierarchy between the different types of angels. On the other hand, each person has a personal angel who protects him from any danger or threat.
One of the Biblical references to the guardian angel is related to Tobias, a blind and godly man who had been humiliated and who He received the consolation of his protective angel (to alleviate Tobias' suffering, God sent him the archangel Saint Raphael disguised as a man).
