This word is widely used in our language being able to refer several questions with it.
Part of a whole
The word partial is used to refer that not complete or not total, namely, that which implies a part of a whole it is termed as partial.
“The eclipse was partial, it did not express itself in all its splendor, that is why we could not appreciate it from the earth.”.
This use that refers to part is usually used in many circumstances and contexts and on different things and objects that can just be affected or modified in a part.
When you say something that is partial you will be realizing that it is a portion, either in time or in quantity.
"We are working part time for the arrangements." “In the company they hired me part-time, that is, the employee, by contract, will fulfill a certain amount of work hours that is not the usual one for a day labor considered complete ”.
Something that is not fair or a subjective position
On the other hand yeah something is not just nor fair
, we also usually refer to it as partial.“ Marcela's opinion is biased, especially if we take into account that she is a friend of the one who started the scandal.”
At the level of opinions and judicial decisions, for example, there is a lot of talk about a partial opinion or a partial ruling, as the case may be.
In any case, especially in the second, it is very serious to act in this way because when administration from Justice the thing is, it must be absolutely fair and equitable because otherwise it will be committing a tremendous injustice that will directly affect someone's life.
Of a victim, who will be left without justice, or a person who is accused and sentenced for something that he has not done just because he has fallen into a judge or partial court.
And at the level of opinion, it is also common that when we are interested parties in something our position is not the most objective, but on the contrary, it will be subjective.
This is not bad as long as it does not negatively affect the course or development of any issue.
So when someone acts or thinks in a partial way he will be taking into account only a part of reality and will judge it according to his point of view only or to his convenience.
This indicated behavior is opposed to the impartiality that precisely implies the opposite, to act with objectivity and to be free of all kinds of prejudices.
Exam
Meanwhile, in the educational field, more precisely at the tertiary and university level, the partial term turns out to be of very recurrent and common use since it is designated to the exam that the student performs a part of the subject or subject being studied.
Generally, when the subjects are annual, teachers evaluate the knowledge learned by their students in two parts, then, each of these evaluations that will correspond to a part of the subject in question will be called partial, partial of the first semester and partial of the second semester, for example.
Then, both marks added and divided by two will give us the student's average in the course and will be decisive when it is approved or not.
“I am preparing for the midterm of the second semester, unfortunately, I will not be able to attend your meeting.”
Result of a match or competition that is not the end even because it did not end
And in the Sports field The use of the partial term is also recurrent, since in this way the result to which a player or team has arrived at a certain time in a competition or match and that is not the end or final of it since the stipulated or complementary time still remains to be played.
“The partial of the meeting between Boca Juniors and River Plate is 3 to 1 in favor of the Boca team.”
Partial function
For its part, a partial function It is the relationship that associates each element of a set or domain with at most one of the elements corresponding to another set or codomain. In this function it is not necessary that all the elements of the domain are linked to those of the codomain.
